More Thanksgiving!

Did I mention the Nintendo Wii? Kris and Drew weren't the only ones who enjoyed it either!

Thanksgiving Weekend!!

I don't have much to write about this time, just lots of photos, but here is a summary. Bob and I flew home on Tuesday night, took care of our house on Wednesday, and then headed for Sunriver with my family. Bob did most of the cooking Thursday, Caitlyn turned three on Friday, and we played in the snow on Saturday morning. Saturday evening and the rest of our time in Oregon, was spent with Bob's family. It was a little surreal being back in Salem. It was pouring down rain and November 2006 is now Oregon's wettest! Thanks to all the friends and family we got to see, it was great - the rest of you we hope to see at Christmas.

Santa Cruz Groupies

Last weekend Bob and I went to Santa Cruz for dinner at Becky and Chris' (pictured in the middle) with Elizabeth (far right) and Anna (far left). Now what is so special about these people warrent a two hour drive? Elizabeth was in town for a conference and Becky, Chris and Anna all recently moved from Oregon to California and Chris and Anna are working on their PhDs as well. (From U Of O) So we get together, reminisce ,as well as complain about whatever is driving us crazy. Unfortunately we did not make it to the butterfly sanctuary I mentioned earlier, because of all things, it was raining.
This weekend of course was in the 70s. We rode our bikes to Jordan and Rosana's to watch the Michigan vs Ohio State football game with some other students. It was a great game, but it seemed such a shame not to spend the day outside!
Bob and I are very excited for this next week - we fly home on Tuesday night!! We just took Lulu out tonight to meet the friends (Keren and Adam) she will be staying with. They have a dog named Wheezy that we will probably watch the beginning of December when they go back east for an early Christmas. So when we get back next Sunday, look for family and food photos - Bob and I are cooking this year!
(This is Chris and because bunny named Pesto. She has the softest fur and is very cute.)

Halloween Pictures

This is a little late, but here are a few pictures from a party we went to. Bob is standing with Jordan and Ryan, both fellow first year students. I am pictured with Rosana, Jordan's girlfriend, although the Corona and Lime costumes may have suggested that.

Job offer and Other Updates

I don't have any new pictures for this post, but I thought I would give a little update. I've had about an interview a week over the last month and yesterday I received an email about an offer. It is a pretty good one too. It is with a Civil Engineering firm that also has a couple of development projects scattered from LA to Sacramento. They said it would be a challenging job for me, but they felt I had a solid foundation of knowledge to build on. The projects are pretty cool but I would have to commute 3 times a week (to Vacaville) for the first couple of months. My other option is to call the last firm I interviewed with here in Davis and let them know I have this offer and see if they are still interested in hiring me. Don't get me wrong, I have enjoyed the last two months of being an independent contractor, setting my own hours and what not, but I think it may be time for a regular office with a schedule and standard pay check. I am excited about the possibilities with either firm, I just don't know yet which is the best fit and the best in the long run. But it is nice to have to worry about a choice.
Tomorrow I think we are headed to Santa Cruz to visit friends from U of O again. There is a Monarch Butterfly resting area near there this time of year and I hope to have some images for the next post.
It is sunny and 60 degrees today, not too shabby and yesterday I found myself thinking, I am happy here. Maybe it was because of the job offer, maybe because Thursday night we go out with other grad students and I was looking forward to it ,or maybe we have adjusted. I still refer to home being Oregon, but I don't know if that will change. Time is really flying by and soon it will be Thanksgiving!

Happy Halloween

Most of you know I am a sucker for kid's activities, so how could I possibly pass up pumpkin carving? Here is a picture of the finished products. Rosanna and I had a great time Sunday evening although the weather suddenly turned cool and we had to carve them inside. Bob and I only had two trick or treaters because downtown Davis businesses put together an early evening of handing out candy. Maybe next year I'll be working downtown and can enjoy the costumes there.

Here is another picture of Lulu with Blackberry - yes I believe it to be the last warm, sunny day of the year.
