Weekend in Davis

This was my first August weekend in Davis. I'm sorry I missed everyone at home this weekend, including my nephew's third birthday party, but it was nice to not have a flight to catch for once. Here is a little photo wrap-up of my weekend spent with some girlfriends.

This was my attempt at being artistic. It was light both inside and out and I have no idea what setting the camera was one, but those are the Napa hills through champagne flutes.

To the left is Lake Berryessa.

Back from MT

I am back in Davis and the last I heard, Bob was in Umatilla (now Sunriver). The goodbye at the airport was almost as hard as the one at the beginning of the month. We had a great weekend, nice and long and with great friends. Yesterday it rained in the evening and today the smoke was hardly noticable so I hope it helped with the wildfires. The pictures are from a trip on the Clark Fork River at Three Bridges, and Wyatt and Lulu in the car. I think I have some more on the new camera that Bob has, or at least I hope so. Thanks guys for another great time in Big Sky country.

Birthdays and Montana on fire

Here is the birthday picture from last weekend and a picture of the fire line on our drive to Montana. The picture doesn't nearly do it justice.

Testing

For those of you that are not in the Architecture field, let me explain my tests for my license. I have 9 national exams to take and then 1 for California and 1 for Oregon and then if I'm not too exhausted one for LEED certification as well. Each time I take a test I have absolutely no idea if I have passed or failed. So each time the letter comes with a Pass in it, it feels like a huge accomplishment, and I suppose it is, but I have a long way to go yet. Confusing, I know. Bob says I am an inspiration to him, which I appreciate, but I just consider it part of who I want to become, and that too is a long road. Thanks to everyone for the continuing support.

Weekend 1 and 2

So far the trips to Oregon have been just what I expected - great. Here is a picture looking across Lava Lake towards Mt. Bachelor and Three Finger Jack and a nice one of my sister taking a jello shot. I guess I've been trying to enjoy my time more and not just be behind my camera, so I apologize for the lack of photos, although I am sure those of you I've seen have appreciated the lack of posing I request. There are some great shots over at the Reinhardt's that I'll put up later. They are on our new camera that Bob has with him for research documenting. Tomorrow, I am headed to Montana. I've been singing in my head this week...Oh I come from Montana, I wear a bandanna, my spurs are silver and my boots are brown...
Thanks to the CV and former CV ladies for sharing your lunch hour with me. KMc, we still have to catch up. KK it was great to finally get wedding details from you. T, always a pleasure and keep having a great time with W. Double J, good luck with week two at the new job.

Finally!

I finally got the PASS on test number 4 - took them four weeks this time (and yes, that is for a computer based exam).
I know I said I'd have pictures up soon, this blog is boring, so here are some to wet your whistle.

Yes, I am embarrassed that I was wearing socks with my chacos, but my feet were cold. Please don't tease me too much.

An Empty House

With the exception of Isabelle meowing for more food, my house is a little empty tonight. Bob and Lulu are in Oregon and I am here in Davis. We had a great weekend that started with friends in Sunriver. In the middle we saw friends that were visiting from Montana and then we finished off today with celebrating Bob's birthday with family and then again with a couple friends. My flight was smooth and on time and our dear friend Shelley picked me up and made sure I was safe inside. She even brought along Blackberry because she knew I would be missing Lulu. Once inside, I found a note Bob had left for me that brought tears to my eyes and then an email from two friends inviting me to do things this week. I miss Bob so much and I am reminded of our numerous goodbyes in airports, but it is so great to know how many people here are looking out for me as well. Grad students are a funny thing. They all move away from their homes so that one day they may be able to move back to them. They are together for at least three years all with the same goals and along the way you become a sort of family. Thank goodness for them, they make the time here, in a place that does not quite feel like home yet, better. So thank you. Thank you also to both my families for welcoming us home each time with the same excitement, thank you to our long time friends that drive all over to see us and be with us. And to those of you I haven't caught up with yet, call me. I'm in town next weekend and Labor Day weekend.

I haven't forgotten

I have been busy so I apologize for the lack of posts, but soon there will be a wrap up of July and the trip to Monterey on here. I am preparing for test number five and Bob and I leave for Oregon on Friday. For those of you who don't know, I'll be around Salem on August 6th, 11th, 12th and then Labor Day weekend.
